Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) president and CEO Robert Ghiz recently spoke to Innovating Canada about the way 5G connectivity can enable the power of the Internet of Things (IoT). According to Mr. Ghiz, “5G and IoT will enable businesses and organizations to gain real-time insights from the data that is streamed from connected sensors and devices. These insights will not only improve decision-making and operations, but they can also improve the safety and standard of living of individuals.”

Mr. Ghiz added that mobile wireless operators have already invested billions to expand 5G networks across Canada, and the next few years will continue to see operator investments in 5G coverage, as well as 5G-enabled products and services, including IoT. “If they are not already doing so,” he said, “organizations should be exploring the capabilities of 5G and IoT with their technology and wireless service providers.” A full transcript of Ghiz’s Q&A with Innovating Canada is available here.
